Megan Fernandez

 

Megan Fernandez (Founder/Director/Choreographer) is also Founder and Artistic Director of The Grace Theatre Workshop, Inc., the premiere presenter of Bi-lingual and Spanish language theatre in the State of New Jersey. She is a graduate of Towson State University where she received a BFA in Dance Performance (cum laude). She is an accomplished actress, dancer, choreographer, and director.

 

Megan has performed in shows such as THE BOYFRIEND (Polly), ANYTHING GOES (Charity), FAME, SUGAR, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and The Grace Theatre Workshop’s productions of FRIEND WANTED, COSAS DE AMOR, and STARS & TAPS. Most recently, Megan appeared in the Off-Broadway musical THAT'S LIFE; the revue LUCIO, LESS CUBAN THAN EVER; and the Off-Broadway play BUSCO AMIGO.

 

Megan has worked as a principal dancer with Ballet For Young Audiences, Brighton Ballet Theatre, and LT Entertainment. She has also performed as a featured dancer in many lavish musical revues throughout NYC and Japan. She played the lead role of Julia in HAVANA MOON, The Musical. She was also principal dancer in PATRIOTIC MOMENT, the musical extravaganza VEGAS VEGAS VEGAS, and the musical NOCHE EN TROPICANA. She has also appeared in several television commercials, trade shows, and films.

 

Megan has choreographed many productions including FRIEND WANTED and STARS & TAPS, which toured all of New Jersey through the NJ Theatre Alliance. She has also choreographed many large-scale musical revues that have had long runs throughout NYC and Japan, and has worked extensively as assistant director on many dramatic productions. She is presently the director of the television show LIVE ON STAGE airing on CABLEVISION, Time Warner Cable, RCN, and Verizon Fios. Megan directed the show THE CUBAN KID IN CONCERT (at Don't Tell Mama/The Duplex, NYC) which was nominated for a 2008 MAC Award; and the Off-Broadway plays BUSCO AMIGO and TILL DEATH.

 

She performed in Ecuador, as invited by the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra, as well as various concerts throughout Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Most recently, she performed at New York Fashion Week, and choreographed and performed in the show "Lucio...Less Cuban Than Ever" at The Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC.

 

Megan has received many awards for her work in the theatre, including “The Distinguished Woman of the Year Award 2003”, Citations from the New Jersey General Assembly, and Proclamations from Union City Mayor & State Assemblyman Brian P. Stack as well as former Governor James E. McGreevey. She is also the recipient of the Premio ARTE Award and the 2012 Union City Artist Award. Megan is a member of MAC, Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs.
